Poll Everywhere
Poll Everywhere is an online service that allows teachers to ask their students a question. The students answer the question using their mobile phones, Twitter, or web browsers. Both the question and the students’ responses are displayed live in Keynote, PowerPoint, and/or on the web.
All SPH faculty has access to a Higher Ed license. Contact us if you need assistance.
Canvas integration
Name the module whatever you like (e.g Poll Ev Integration) in the subsequent popup window, then click the ‘Add Module’ button to save. The module will be placed at the bottom of the page.
"and click ‘Add Item’ to save.
A new window will ask you to continue to LMS to login.
Click on the blue button: texasam.instructure.com
Your canvas course will appear, then click on Sync roster.
Your roster will be imported. Do not close this window, if you want to start creating your polls directly in Poll Everywhere (steps explained below).
Graded participation
For graded participation, you have two options:
- Grade that is equal to the points per poll, e.g 1 point. If you would like to have 1 point per poll, then the trick is to assign 1 point to all answers, no matter if they are correct or incorrect. This way you are going to export 1 point per participation.
- Participation that is equal to a 100, no matter if the responses were correct or not. This will give all students 100 if they participated.
Attendance Management
Poll Everywhere’s Attendance Management offers automated attendance tracking and reporting combined with a full suite of interactive polling activities, arming presenters with every tool they need to motivate their audiences and improve learning outcomes.
- Set geofence attendance locations where you present content
- Automatically prompt participants to check into geofenced locations before joining a presentation
- Participants check into presentations by verifying their physical location
- How to use the Attendance Feature (Video for instructors)
Sharing an Activity
Near the name of the Folder, click on the dropdown menu followed by Share.
All presenters within those Teams have the ability to present, but are unable to edit the activities.
Any activities added to the Folder will immediately be shared. Any new presenters added to the Team will also immediately get access.
Any number of presenters may collect responses on the same activity simultaneously without interference between activities. Results will be tied to each individual presenter, so presenters can run their own independent reports on the shared activities.
Step 1: To see activities that have been shared with you, click on Shared with me to see a full list. This will show each folder of activities that have been shared as well as the name of who shared them and which Team has access.
Step 2: Click on the folder to open and review the activities. Many of the fields on a shared activity will be disabled. Only the owner of an activity or an account administrator will be able to edit a shared activity.
Step 3: Click Present to activate and present the activity as normal.
