Biography

Maria T. Roque is a bilingual and bicultural public health practitioner and educator. She has a Doctor of Public Health in public health sciences and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in health promotion and community health sciences from Texas A&M School of Public Health. She has more than five years of experience teaching interdisciplinary public health topics at the graduate level, with a focus on health behavior. She is passionate about implementing pedagogically sound methods for teaching adult learners and developing engaging instructional materials for both in-person and online teaching formats. Dr. Roque is also committed to improving maternal and child health outcomes and disparities, specifically neglected issues for adolescents and women of reproductive age, through community-centered research and interventions. She is an advocate for culturally proficient programs that consider the social determinants of health.
