Biography

Dr. Asiya Validova is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Texas A&M University School of Public Health. A quantitative researcher with a Ph.D. in Applied Demography and a background in Economics, she has research interests in socio-economic inequalities and their health consequences, underinsurance among children in the U.S. , maternal and child health disparities , parental leave policies and health outcomes. She is particularly interested in investigating policies that help mitigate socio-economic inequities.

Prior to her current position, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at PolicyLab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. During her postdoctoral research, she investigated underinsurance among children with special healthcare needs and immigrant families. She also conducted policy-oriented health services research on trends in psychotropic prescribing among children in the Pennsylvania Medicaid program.

Her expertise includes statistical analysis of complex survey data, panel data analysis, and multi-level modelling. Her work has been published in journals such as  JAMA Network Open, Social Science & Medicine, and Annals of Epidemiology
